The European Regulation (EC) No. 561/2006 imposes the following main rules:
- Maximum daily driving time: 9 hours (may be extended to 10 hours twice per week).
- Maximum weekly driving time: 56 hours.
- Maximum driving time over two consecutive weeks: 90 hours.
- Break after 4 hours and 30 minutes of driving: minimum 45 minutes (or split breaks of 15 + 30 minutes).
- Daily rest: minimum 11 hours (or 9 hours up to 3 times per week).
